About the Role
Summary
Develop, implement, and periodically evaluate a program to ensure the organization's production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization.
Quality:
● Responsible for the implementation of quality standards and testing procedures for steel and sheet metal fabrication.
● Performs QC testing, record keeping, and welding inspections. Must be capable of reading and understanding steel fabrication drawings and able to measure parts, bent shapes, and overall steel framing dimensions accurately.
● Collaborates with management and staff across production departments and roles to draft acceptable quality standards.
● Develops and implements quality standard testing and evaluation processes.
● Facilitates communication among production divisions and management.
● Assesses test results and approves recommended changes.
● Reviews quality control documentation such as checklists, logs, and reports for effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance.
● Conducts random inspections and quality control checks.
● Periodically reports status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies.
● Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities
● Awareness of fundamental Quality Control procedures.
● Ability to visually differentiate colors, textures, and patterns
● Capable of working independently and collaboratively with a diverse team
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Google G Suite software
Supervisory Responsibilities:
● None
Education and Experience:
● Preferred 2+ years QA/QC field experience in steel and pipe fabrication and construction.
● OSHA certifications a plus
Physical Requirements:
● Periods of walking around the facility to conduct quality control inspections
● Periods of sitting at a desk working via a computer
● Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
